Emergency Relief Funding Boosts FDV Frontline Support

The Cook Government, through Lotterywest, has awarded Ruah Community Services $882,352 in crisis and emergency relief funding to expand vital frontline support for Western Australians experiencing hardship.

Prevention of Family and Domestic Violence Minister Jessica Stojkovski and Perth MLA John Carey presented the Lotterywest grant this morning on day 15 of 16 Days in WA, the Cook Government's campaign to raise awareness and drive action to end family and domestic violence.

The funding will help Ruah Community Services ensure people impacted by family and domestic violence, homelessness, and mental health challenges can access practical help when they need it most with essential relief including food, emergency accommodation, tenancy support, clothing, bedding, toiletries, and transport.

As stated by Prevention of Family and Domestic Violence Minister Jessica Stojkovski:

"This boost means Ruah can continue to be there for people at their most vulnerable - helping victim-survivors of family and domestic violence, people experiencing homelessness, and those in serious financial distress to stabilise and rebuild their lives.

"The Cook Government is dedicated to strengthening our frontline response for those in need as part of our commitment to building safe and inclusive communities."

"Our government has consistently backed the work of Ruah, who play a critical role in supporting people across our community who are doing it tough.

"This funding will help ensure no one has to face crisis alone, by providing immediate, practical assistance to people when they need it most."

As stated by Ruah Community Services CEO Debra Zanella:

"This funding will enable Ruah to respond to immediate financial hardship and crises, providing vital support for people experiencing homelessness, family and domestic violence, or mental health challenges.

"It allows us to address both urgent needs and the underlying causes of disadvantage, helping people regain stability and hope."
