Victorian households and businesses continue to be hard hit by surging energy costs under Labor, new data has confirmed.
Recent Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) consumer price index (CPI) figures for Melbourne have confirmed:
These latest figures follow a December 2025 VAGO report which found the Allan Labor Government's mismanagement of the energy transition undermines energy reliability and may push prices even higher.
Shadow Minister for Energy and Emissions Reduction, David Davis, said: "Victorian families and business are paying the price of Labor's energy mismanagement.
"Surging energy bills are adding further cost of living pressures for Victorian at the worst possible time.
"Only our Liberal and Nationals team has a plan to deliver more affordable and reliable power by unlocking onshore conventional gas supplies."
