Police Ride Southern Bus Network

The Southern District Public Transport Policing Team rode the buses today in the southern suburbs alongside transport prescribed officers targeting fare evasion and general behaviour on the transport network.

During today's operation, police searched 32 people using metal detector wands; however, no weapons were located.

One man was arrested for disorderly behaviour, while another was arrested for an outstanding warrant.

Six expiations were issued for antisocial behaviour and fare evasion, and one cannabis expiation notice was handed to a man in possession of cannabis.

Police work closely with transport prescribed officers to address issues and ensure that the public transport system remains a safe and reliable option for everyone.

Many commuters and passengers were pleased by the police presence and expressed their appreciation. Regular operations like this not only deter potential offenders but also reassure the public that their safety is a top priority.
