Entries Open For National Contemporary Jewellery Award

Griffith Regional Art Gallery has announced the official call for entries for its flagship exhibition, The National Contemporary Jewellery Award 2026 (NCJA).

This highly regarded national, biennial acquisitive prize will culminate in a major exhibition at the Gallery, celebrating the craftmanship, concept and originality behind the contemporary jewellery practice in Australia.

Established in 1992 by Griffith City Council, the NCJA has become a cornerstone event in the Australian contemporary craft calendar, showcasing exceptional work while building the Gallery's significant National Contemporary Jewellery Collection. The 2026 award continues this legacy, inviting artists working across contemporary jewellery to submit their most eligible pieces.

The award features two prizes: a $5,000 acquisitive award, with the winning work entering the Gallery's permanent collection, and Design Excellence Award (non-acquisitive) of $1,000, recognising outstanding innovation and craftsmanship. Judging panel details will be announced in due course.

Manager of Griffith Regional Theatre and Gallery, Margaret Andreazza, said the national call-out presents an exciting opportunity for artists from across Australia to showcase their work in Griffith.

"The National Contemporary Jewellery Award is a vital platform for artists across Australia to present innovative and thought-provoking work, and we look forward to showcasing the strength and diversity of contemporary jewellery practice in 2026," she said.

The exhibition marks a celebratory end to the 2026 program for Griffith Regional Art Gallery, drawing together leading practitioners and emerging voices in a dynamic presentation of wearable and conceptual works that push the boundaries of the discipline.

Artists looking to enter the award are encouraged to review the full entry criteria, conditions and key dates.

"If any further assistance is needed, please reach out to the Gallery staff. We wish our contemporary jewellery community the very best for the 2026 award," Ms Andreazza said.

Entry forms and terms and conditions containing all critical information for this upcoming award are now available on the gallery's website www.griffithregionalartgallery.com.au.
