- Expressions of interest open for community service organisations to deliver Housing First Support Services in Albany
- Part of the State Government's $18.8 million investment to expand Housing First Support Services across Western Australia
- Albany HFSS will operate alongside the Regional Supportive Landlord Model to deliver more social homes
The State Government is calling for expressions of interest (EOI) from community service organisations to deliver Housing First Support Services (HFSS) in the greater Albany region.
HFSS provides intensive, tailored, wrap-around support for adults and families experiencing homelessness, especially people sleeping rough, linking them to housing and accommodation and connecting them with services including employment, health, mental health, financial management, and social support.
HFSS has helped people experiencing rough sleeping sustain long-term tenancies across Perth, Rockingham, Mandurah, Bunbury, and Geraldton through holistic case management and housing-led support.
The Albany EOI forms part of the State Government's $18.8 million investment to expand HFSS across Western Australia, which includes a recently announced $3.1 million uplift to expand HFSS in Bunbury.
HFSS in Albany will operate alongside the Regional Supportive Landlord Model, a supportive tenancy management approach backed by the State Government's $49 million investment to provide up to 100 regional social homes across Albany, Geraldton, and Kalgoorlie.
The model builds on the successful Djuripiny Mia pilot with Housing Choices, which has delivered 100 homes supporting more than 200 people, including families and children, who were previously sleeping rough.
The State Government encourages service providers, including Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations, to apply. Visit www.tenders.wa.gov.au for more information.
As stated by Homelessness Minister Matthew Swinbourn:
"The State Government is prioritising a Housing First Approach in line with the All Paths Lead to a Home: Western Australia's 10-Year Strategy on Homelessness 2020-2030.
"This best-practice approach prioritises providing stable accommodation to people experiencing homelessness while ensuring they have the wraparound supports they need to sustain their tenancy.
"Opening EOIs for HFSS in Albany is a key milestone. It will strengthen local capacity to support people experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness and help more residents move from rough sleeping into safe, secure homes."
