A man has been arrested following investigations into a domestic violence incident on the Eyre Peninsula.
On Tuesday 22 September, police received reports that a woman had been assaulted during two separate incidents at a home on the Eyre Peninsula.
The woman sustained minor injuries and is being provided support through specialist domestic violence services.
Police immediately commenced investigations to locate the alleged offender and, at about 2.40am on Wednesday 23 September, a 36-year-old Eyre Peninsula man was arrested.
He was charged with choking a person in a domestic setting and aggravated assault. He was refused bail and will appear in the Magistrates Court on Wednesday 23 September.
In addition to the charges, the man was issued with a Police Interim Intervention Order (PIIO), which provides police with greater powers to take immediate action to protect individuals and their families not only from physical violence, but also threatening and controlling behaviour.
