On behalf of the United States of America, I extend my congratulations to the people of Estonia as you mark the anniversary of your independence.
Estonia plays an essential role in advancing security in Northern Europe. Through sustained defense investment, meaningful contributions to NATO, and close cooperation with the United States, Estonia strengthens deterrence and supports stability along the Alliance's eastern flank. Estonia is also an excellent host for U.S. soldiers on rotational deployment to the Baltic region.
Estonia's efforts to counter hybrid threats, enhance cyber defenses, strengthen borders, and secure critical infrastructure-including through energy independence-reflect a serious approach to sovereignty and self-defense.
We are proud of our historic bonds with Estonia, built on more than a century of unbroken diplomatic relations. As the United States approaches its 250th anniversary through the Freedom 250 initiative, we value partners who invest in their own security, and approach collective defense with clarity and resolve. I extend my best wishes to the people of Estonia for continued security, prosperity, and success.
