Europe Council Marks 4th Year of Russia's War on Ukraine

On the occasion of the fourth anniversary of the Russian Federation's full-scale military invasion of Ukraine, the Council of Europe will convene a meeting of the Committee of Ministers on 24 February and hold a ceremony on 25 February on the Palais de l'Europe forecourt.

On Tuesday 24 February, the Ministers' Deputies (ambassadors) will meet exclusively to examine the consequences of the aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine (to be broadcast live as from 10 a.m.) and make a decision on this point public.

On Wednesday 25 February, at 1 p.m., Secretary General Alain Berset, Ambassador Daniela Cujbă, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Moldova to the Council of Europe (on behalf of the Presidency of the Committee of Ministers), and Ambassador Mykola Tochytskyi, Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the Council of Europe, will address those gathered for the ceremony on the Council of Europe forecourt. The national anthem of Ukraine and the European anthem will be played.

The ceremony will be open to media upon prior accreditation.

In addition, an exhibition entitled "Living through the war" will be organised from 20 to 27 February in the Lobby of the Committee of Ministers.

The Council of Europe's main building will be lit up in the colours of the Ukrainian flag during the night from 23 to 25 February.
