EVADE CHARGES At JOONDALUP

Mirrabooka Police have charged a man with serious domestic violence and traffic offence charges following an evade police incident which occurred on Monday, 15 September 2025.

Police will allege the man was involved in a domestic violence incident earlier in the day, during which he assaulted his partner in a black Jeep Grand Cherokee outside a shopping centre in Mirrabooka before fleeing the scene in the vehicle.

Later that afternoon, police received multiple reports from members of the public regarding a black Jeep being driven recklessly through the Joondalup area.

About 4:20pm, the Police Airwing helicopter located the stolen Jeep in Neerabup. Ground units were directed towards its location and attempted to intercept the vehicle where it will be alleged, the driver mounted a kerb and failed to stop for police, driving off at high speed.

It will be further alleged the Jeep was driven dangerously, weaving through traffic and narrowly avoiding collisions with other road users. The driver continued to drive on a shredded front tyre, with sparks and smoke coming from the vehicle's damaged rims.

The Jeep later crashed into a wire barrier Tonkin Highway in Bullsbrook; the driver attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended and taken into custody.

A 30-year-old Nollamara man has been charged with the following offences:

• 2 x 'Impede a person's normal breathing by applying pressure to the neck'

• 1 x 'Aggravated Assault Occasioning Bodily Harm'

• 1 x 'Steal Motor Vehicle'

• 1 x 'Reckless Driving to escape pursuit by police'

• 1 x 'Aggravated Fail to Stop'

• 1 x 'No Authority to Drive (Disqualified)'

The man has been remanded in custody and is next due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 7 October 2025.
