Cannington Detectives have charged a 44-year-old Maddington man in relation to an incident last night, Wednesday 13 January 2021, in which the driver of a stolen vehicle failed to stop for police.
It is alleged that driver was first sighted recklessly driving in Dalkeith around 7:30pm, before moving into Claremont and then onto Stirling Highway towards Fremantle, failing to stop for police on a number of occasions.
The driver was then sighted by police near Winterfold Road and Carrington Street before continuing down Stock Road towards Bibra Lake, where a tyre deflation device was deployed, causing the vehicle to come to a stop.
The driver was taken into custody and conveyed to Cannington Police Station where he was charged with a number of offences including:
• Reckless driving to escape pursuit by police
• Armed robbery
• Steal motor vehicle
• Gave false personal details to a public officer
• Two counts of trespass
• Two counts of stealing
He is due to appear in the Perth Magistrates' Court today, Thursday 14 January 2021.
