Hawkesbury Library Service invites the community to a special evening event, Living with the River: Flood History, from the Dreamtime to Now on Thursday 19 June. The evening features talks, refreshments and an opportunity to view the stunning photographic exhibition Living with the River, that explores our community's deep connection to the Hawkesbury-Nepean River.

Living with the River Talk
Discover the powerful stories behind the exhibition's photographs and the cultural significance of the river. Dharug woman Jasmine Seymour will share the story of Gurangatty, the Great Eel ancestor spirit, which reflects the Dharug Nation's spiritual connection and enduring relationship with Dyarubbin, the Hawkesbury River. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore the photographic exhibition, which captures the diverse ways communities engage with the river today.
Special Presentation
The Science of Floods. Flood Risk Specialist Dr Stephen Yeo will present on palaeoflood research, offering insights into flood science and the history of major flood events in the region. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session.
This event offers a unique opportunity to deepen our understanding of the river's significance - both its cultural and historical role and the scientific research informing flood risk management. Don't miss this chance to engage with experts, view breathtaking imagery, and reflect on our shared relationship with the river.
This free event will be held at the Hawkesbury Central Library, 300 George Street, Windsor. Light refreshments will be available.
