- Innovation in the aged care sector, education and the mining industry among this years' winners of the prestigious Work Health and Safety Excellence Awards
- Awards recognise outstanding innovation and solutions to specific workplace health and safety issues by individuals, groups or organisations
- Record 138 submissions received this year with 42 company and individual finalists
Today's Health and Safety Excellence Awards 2025 recognise companies and individuals for their outstanding contribution to keeping Western Australians safe and healthy at work.
The Awards celebrate the achievements of those committed to reducing the risk of injury and improving health and safety in the workplace through the development of plant or equipment engineering or infrastructure; innovative design of systems or procedures; prevention of psychosocial hazards; and excellence in leadership.
This year a record 138 nominations were received from organisations and individuals committed to building safer, more supportive workplaces.
There were 42 finalists in the seven award categories. This year's winners are:
- Leadership excellence award (for organisations of 199 employees or less) - FSC Civils for Integrated Initiatives (Byford Rail Extension);
- Leadership excellence award (for organisations of 200 employees or more) - Curtin University for Leading safety through culture and connection;
- Work health and safety invention of the year (for organisations of 199 employees or less) - Innovative Mining Services for its Automated Kelly Filter Press Wash System;
- Work health and safety invention of the year (for organisations of 200 employees or more) - South 32 Worsley Alumina for its Cage Mill Lifting Jig;
- Best solution to a work health and safety risk (for organisations of 199 employees or less) - FSC Civils for Safe Assign (Byford Rail Extension);
- Best solution to a work health and safety risk (for organisations of 200 employees or more) - South 32 Worsley Alumina for its integrated overhead protection solutions for refractory maintenance operation;
- Best invention to address a psychosocial hazard - The Bethanie Group Inc. for Reducing workplace violence and aggression in aged care through environmental redesign; and
- Health and safety representative of the year - Josh Singleton from Emerald Resources.
In 2024, 188 Australians lost their lives in work-related accidents - 30 were Western Australians.
