Make the most of advanced creative technology for free at Townsville's two Creative Space Hubs at Citylibraries' Riverway and Aitkenvale branches.
The cutting-edge MixHaus Makerspace and Digital Studios encourage intergenerational learning, collaboration, innovation and problem-solving for all Townsville residents.
Acting Mayor Ann-Maree Greaney said the spaces modelled the future of libraries.
"We love our books, but libraries have evolved to be so much more than a quiet space to borrow novels. Citylibraries is constantly evolving its offerings, including through its two Creative Spaces, which have some of the most high-tech tools available to use for free," Cr Greaney said.
"The hubs offer Citylibraries members access to a diverse range of creative technologies and tools—including podcasting and filming equipment, 3D printers, sewing machines, woodworking gear, and more. Our Cricut Auto Press, Emblaser Pro Laser Cutter, and the Prusa MK4 3D printer all support hands-on exploration across design, fabrication, and digital media.
"The best part is that all your basic consumables for this equipment are provided, making it as easy as possible for our Creative Space Hubs users to get into the space and to start work on their projects straight away.
"Getting involved is easy, you just need to book in for an induction and then you can get started with your project."
