There are more opportunities for play for younger children with the official opening of the upgraded play space at Fairfield Park.
Yarra Bend Councillor Sarah McKenzie says the new play space provides a focus on inclusion with diverse play options, space to gather and connection to nature.
"We've tried to create a space that toddlers and preschoolers can enjoy – as well as children of all abilities to play, explore and use their imagination," she said.
"As well as giving more ways for local children to play, this upgraded playground has also created a new space for the community to come together."
The new playground includes:
updated, sustainable play equipment
improved safety, visibility and accessibility
more play for more ages
a water play feature
increased shade and seating.
Also included is enhanced landscaping to create a stronger connection to nature.
