Northern Territory Police are investigating the death of a man in Mataranka last night.
The body of the 29-year-old was found in a truck bay adjacent to the Stuart Highway opposite the Mataranka Hotel about 6pm, Northern Territory Police say
Detectives from Major Crash and local crash investigators are currently on the scene.
Police believe he may have been run over by a vehicle within the truck bay and are appealing for witnesses.
In particular, anyone who was parked up in the truck bay between 4:00pm and 6:00pm yesterday, or anyone who may have seen an indigenous male, wearing blue track suit pants, blue and yellow singlet with the number 35 on it and wearing a blue and black baseball cap, around the same timeframe, is requested to come forward.
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 131 444 or contact Crime Stoppers.
The road toll for 2017 now stands 31 compared to 44 at the same time last year.
