One person has died following a crash on State Highway 5, Whakarewarewa, south of Rotorua this morning.
The crash, involving two vehicles, was reported to Police at 5.05am.
A second person sustained serious injuries.
The road is expected to remain closed for some time and motorists are asked to take alternative routes.
