Fatal marine incident, Cleveland

A man has died following a vessel overturning in waters off Cleveland this morning, Wednesday December 21.

Initial information suggests at approximately 11.30am, two adult men and a 14-year-old girl were on the vessel, a 4.6m runabout, when it overturned and sunk.

The alarm was raised by a member of the public who saw one of the men holding onto an esky in waters off Shore Street North.

One of the men and the girl swam to shore and were transported to hospital.

A 45-year-old Riverview man died at the scene.

Redland Bay Water Police remain at the scene to recover the vessel.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner, there is no further information available.
