Fatal marine incident, Rubyanna at Bundaberg

An 85-year-old Windermere Man has died following a marine incident in Bundaberg today, Tuesday March 14.

Initial information indicates around 10.40am, two people were thrown from a boat into the Burnett River near Strathdees boat ramp, Rubyanna.

No other vessel is believed to be involved.

An 85-year-old Windermere man suffered critical injuries and died at the scene.

The driver of the boat, an 82-year-old Gooburrum man, sustained minor injuries and was transported to hospital.

Water Police are investigating the circumstances of the incident, with assistance from Maritime Safety Queensland.

Witnesses are urged to come forward, investigations are continuing.
