Police are currently on scene of a fatal motorcycle crash in Meringur west of the state at the border of South Australia, Victoria Police say.
It is believed a motorcycle with a pillion passenger was travelling along the Sturt Highway when it lost control and crashed into a tree about 6.50pm.
The male rider, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.
His male pillion passenger has been airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
