Feedback invited on future of children's education in NSW

NSW Government

A public consultation is open to parents, carers, and educators to have their say on the Department of Education's Parent and Carers Engagement Framework.

Two school girls presenting their work to their class with their teacher is watching.

The framework will outline how the education sector can work more closely with parents and carers to improve student outcomes.

The Department of Education will use these insights to develop the framework, which will help parents and carers to better understand their rights, responsibilities, and choices in the education system while accessing information about their child's learning, development, and wellbeing.

Education and Early Learning Minister Sarah Mitchell said that students perform better at school when their families are engaged in their education.

"The pandemic has shown us that there are always new ways for parents to engage in their child's education," Ms Mitchell said.

"This survey gives parents a chance to tell us what they think the best ways are for their school to communicate with them and what we can improve on."

Submissions close on Saturday 30 April 2022.
