Final countdown for feedback on Victoria's public and community housing system

Victorian Social Housing Regulation Review

Victorians have just one week left to help shape the future of public and community housing in our state as the Social Housing Regulation Review prepares to wind down its public consultation phase.

The Review has already received contributions from over 1,000 tenants and other community members. It has hosted roundtable and meetings with over 65 organisations, networks and groups with more to come in the final week.

Professor David Hayward chairs the independent panel conducting the Review along with Dr Heather Holst and Dr David Cousins AM.

Professor Hayward encouraged everyone with an interest in Victoria's social housing system to participate in the Review before submissions close on Monday 20 September 2021.

"Our social housing safety net is of critical importance to building a fairer Victoria. The experiences of tenants and those wanting to access social housing are central to this Review."

"People have a short time left to participate and I would personally encourage them to do so because this Review offers a rare chance to look at the whole system and offer concrete recommendations for making it better for tenants and others seeking a safe, stable and affordable place to call home."

"We will consider every submission we receive from the community and use them to develop a set of recommendations to make our housing system stronger, fairer and better equipped to meet the current and future needs of Victorians."

People and organisations can upload submissions via Engage Victoria. Public/community tenants and others eligible for social housing can complete a short online form about their experiences as tenants, applying for housing or being on the waiting list here.
