Fire Closes Tuncurry Waste Facility

The Tuncurry Waste Management Centre is currently closed following a fire at the Tuncurry Material Recovery Facility in the early hours of Tuesday, 1 September.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, and the centre will remain closed today.

MidCoast Council staff and contractors are managing the incident. Waste and recycling collection services are expected to continue as normal.

Customers are being redirected to the Taree Waste Management Centre until further notice.

RFS and Fire and Rescue NSW crews have the site under control, and the NSW Environment Protection Authority has been notified.
