Firearm, drug and assault charges in Windsor

Police have seized a starter pistol and drugs during the arrest of a man and a teenage girl in Sydney’s outer north-west today, NSW Police say.

About 9.15am today, officers from Hawkesbury Local Area Command attended Macquarie Park, Windsor, to arrest a man wanted by virtue of an arrest warrant for failing to appear in court on sexual assault and kidnapping charges.

The 29-year-old man was located in a tent along with a 16-year-old girl who both allegedly struggled with police before being arrested. They were taken to Windsor Police Station.

Inside the tent, police located and seized a starter pistol and a small amount of a drug believed to be ‘ice’ (methylamphetamine).

The man was charged with the outstanding warrant, possess prohibited drug, possess unauthorised pistol, resist police, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The assault charge relates to the alleged assault of a 63-year-old woman at Windsor in January this year.

The teenage girl was charged with possess unauthorised pistol and resist police.

Both were refused bail with the man to appear at Penrith Local Court and the teenager to appear at a children’s court tomorrow.

Hawkesbury Duty Officer, Chief Inspector Garry Sims, said police viewed all firearms offences extremely seriously.
