Crime Division detectives are investigating an incident at a private residence in the Livingstone area overnight where a 44-year-old male received a gunshot wound to his leg.
Police were notified of the incident just before midnight by the owner of the property, Northern Territory Police say.
It is believed four people were at the location when the shooting occurred.
The male was transported to Royal Darwin Hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.
The firearm has been seized and investigations are continuing.
