Firearms seized during North West property search

A 25-year-old Hillcrest man has been charged with trafficking firearms after police searched a North West property on Thursday.

During the search, police located an unregistered shotgun, a pistol, ammunition, a quantity of cannabis, and drug-related paraphernalia.

The Hillcrest man was taken into custody at the scene, along with a 28-year-old Wivenhoe man.

The 25-year-old was charged with multiple offences including Unlawfully trafficking in firearms, Possess a firearm while not the holder of a firearms licence, and Breach of Bail.

He was detained to appear in the Burnie Magistrates Court.

The 28-year-old man was charged with firearms offences and bailed to appear in the Burnie Magistrates Court at a later date.

A 24-year-old Wivenhoe woman will also be proceeded against by summons for offences arising from the search.
