Fisherman Swept Off Rocks Dies on Central Coast

A fisherman has died after they were swept off rocks in the state's north yesterday.

About 1.20pm (Saturday 9 May 2026), emergency services were called to Frazer Park following reports a rock fisherman was swept into the water.

Officers attached to Tuggerah Lakes Police District, Westpac Helicopter, Marine Area Command, Surf Life Saving NSW and NSW Ambulance paramedics attended the scene.

The body of a 41-year-old man was recovered from the surf by the Westpac Helicopter.

Police have been informed that the man was in company with two other males when the incident occurred.

One of the men entered the water in an attempt to retrieve the man but was unsuccessful. He was rescued by a passing vessel and was uninjured.

It is believed the 41-year-old man was wearing a flotation device when he was struck by the wave.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are underway.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
