  • $9 million Fitzroy Crossing Renal Health Centre expansion completed, doubling capacity
  • Four additional renal dialysis chairs delivered in remote location
  • Expansion part of Cook Government's efforts to ensure Western Australians in regional WA can access the healthcare they need, when and where they need it

The $9 million expansion of the Fitzroy Crossing Renal Health Centre has reached practical completion.

The expansion doubles the facility's capacity, with an additional 16 renal patients now able to receive regular dialysis treatments closer to home and on Country.

The revitalised centre now features four additional renal dialysis chairs, treatment bays and new entry and waiting areas and amenities.

The centre's design also incorporates local artworks, helping to provide comfortable, culturally safe and welcoming surroundings for patients during treatment.

The program of works minimised disruption to patients, with alternate treatment options provided during construction.

The project is part of the Cook Government's record $4.9 billion health infrastructure program, ensuring Western Australians can access the healthcare they need, when and where they need it.

As stated by Health Infrastructure Minister John Carey:

"Our government's $9 million expansion of Fitzroy Crossing's Renal Health Centre is complete, delivering increased access to care for patients closer to home and on Country.

"This important health infrastructure project - at one of our most remote locations - demonstrates our commitment to improving care, regardless of where people live.

"The project has doubled capacity and is an important part of our record $4.9 billion health infrastructure program."

As stated by Health Minister Meredith Hammat:

"This completed facility significantly expands capacity for renal dialysis care in Fitzroy Crossing and provides the very latest in modern, fit-for-purpose healthcare to the people of Fitzroy Valley and surrounds.

"This expansion means we're supporting more Kimberley residents to receive the healthcare they need on Country, closer to their home and support network."

As stated by Kimberley MLA Divina D'Anna:

"The revitalised Fitzroy Crossing Renal Health Centre is already delivering on our promise to provide increased access to world-class care for people in the Fitzroy Valley.

"We're getting on with the job of prioritising projects that will have a real and lasting benefit for Kimberley communities."
