Five cars burnt by suspicious fire in Sydney's east

Four cars have been destroyed by fire in Bellevue Hill this morning, NSW Police said.

Emergency services were called to Birriga Road shortly before 5am today (Monday 28 December 2015), responding to reports that five cars were alight.

Fire & Rescue NSW officers extinguished the blaze with four cars destroyed and one damaged.

It’s believed the fire originated in a 2004-model Mercedes Benz 4WD which was parked in the driveway of a home, and spread to four vehicles parked in the street.

The 4WD, a 2015-model VW Passat, a 2013-model Ford Focus, and a 2012-model Kia Rio were destroyed while a 2010-model Honda CRV sustained minor damaged.

The cause of the fire is unknown and is being investigated by officers from Rose Bay Local Area Command.

Until the cause is determined the fire is being treated as suspicious.

Police have urged anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
