Five youths arrested after police pursuit - Kings Cross

Five youths have been arrested following a police pursuit with a stolen car in Kings Cross overnight.

About 12.20am (Tuesday 6 July 2021), officers from Kings Cross Police Area Command noticed a suspicious vehicle leaving a service station at Rushcutters Bay.

Checks of the registration revealed the Land Rover had been stolen from an address in Bellevue Hill on Friday 2 July 2021.

Officers activated lights and sirens and attempted to catch up with the vehicle as it entered the Cross City Tunnel. Not far into the tunnel officers came across the stolen vehicle on its side.

Officers assisted all five occupants – who appeared to have escaped serious injury - out of the car and placed them under arrest.

The three boys, aged 13, 16 and 17, and two girls, aged 15 and 16, were taken to Surry Hills Police Station where they are currently assisting police with inquiries.

While in custody the 13-year-old boy complained of a sore knee, he was taken to St Vincent's Hospital for treatment.

Inquiries continue.
