Flinders Learning Pop Up Comes To Rundle Mall

Flinders University will bring its friendly ducks and passion for learning to the heart of Rundle Mall this week.

As the festive season kicks into gear, Flinders is transforming the Gawler Place intersection into a hive of activity through leisure-led workshops including free, hands-on activities designed to spark curiosity and inspire lifelong learning.

Shoppers, city visitors, students and families are invited to dive into bite-size, interactive workshops that make learning fun, accessible and unforgettable in the heart of Adelaide.

Visitors to the Flinders' activations can try their hand at a range of self-guided mini workshops led by Flinders, with each session crafted for participants to showcase everyday creativity and accessible skill building.

The Leisure Learning workshops will commence on Friday 12 and continue on Saturday 13 December at the Gawler Place intersection.

Think elegant bouquets made from fresh bold and gold blooms, playful block ducks inspired by the real ducks on our Flinders campuses, or seed balls packed with fresh herbs ready for summer dishes – every workshop promises something unique to create and take home.

There is also a mystery book club, aligned to participants interests from a My Career Match quiz.

"Every participant will create and keep a unique, personalised piece that proudly showcases the skills they've learned on the day amid their developing connection with Flinders," says Bev Bury, Chief Marketing Officer at Flinders University.

"These leisure learning activities are part of Flinders' growing presence in the Adelaide CBD following the opening of our now popular City Campus last year. These public activities are designed to make education more accessible, hands-on and community focused, just like our city campus.

"From hands-on craft activities to quick, fun demonstrations, every session is designed to make new skills instantly usable for all ages."

With the importance of lifelong learning gaining prominence, Meghann Reeves, Head of Brand at Flinders University said the activation is an opportunity for the community to try their hand at something different.

"At Flinders University, we've just launched our new They Say/We Say campaign to spark fresh thinking, inspire people to push their limits, and rethink what's possible. We're bringing this to life through small but powerful learning moments that spark curiosity, encourage lifelong learning, and deepen our connection with the community we're here to support."

All activities at the Flinders University Leisure Learning workshops are free of charge and no bookings are required.
