Flood Warning - Daly and Waterhouse Rivers

A flood watch remains in place for parts of the Top End as a monsoon trough moves across the region.

The Bureau of Meteorology has now issued moderate flood warnings for the Daly and Waterhouse Rivers, with a minor warning in place for the Katherine River.

Regional Controller, Assistant Commissioner Travis Wurst said "Local Emergency Committees have been stood up in preparation for the heavy rainfall and potential flooding.

"The Northern Territory Police, Fire and Emergency Service is advising everyone in the affected areas to ensure they are engaged in preparations for higher than usual rainfall."

The Northern Territory Emergency Service advises that people should:

  • Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways
  • Prepare for flooding and move away while safe to do so
  • Don't drive into floodwaters
