Fly with friend to WA with new Qantas fare deal partnership

  • Special airfares secured through marketing partnership with Qantas
  • Initiative promotes travel to Western Australia to drive interstate tourism
  • Supported by the McGowan Government, through Tourism WA
  • Eastern States travellers are being encouraged to fly with a friend to Western Australia, with special Qantas '2-for-1' return airfares launching today.

The McGowan Government has partnered with Qantas in the promotion, which aims to promote interstate travel to WA following the border reopening last week.

It will give holidaymakers, and those looking to reconnect with loved ones, the chance to fly return to Perth for $299 per person from Sydney, Brisbane or Melbourne, when booking a return economy flight for two or more passengers (minimum total price $598).

The special fares are available from today (Monday March 7) at qantas.com/perthsale until Friday March 11, unless sold out prior, for travel between May 1 to June 30 and July 19 to September 15, 2022.

Qantas will be marketing the special discounted airfares through its email database, social media channels and on its website, featuring iconic scenes of Rottnest Island.

Since the reopening date for WA was announced on February 18, Qantas and Jetstar have added about 60 return interstate flights each week in March.

This will increase in April, particularly around the school holiday period as travel demand recovers.

The new Qantas promotion is part of the $12 million Wander Out Yonder marketing blitz on the east coast announced last week.

This marketing campaign is seeing the rollout of high-impact initiatives in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria, taking over billboards social media, newspapers, magazines, television and radio.

As stated by Tourism Minister Roger Cook:

"We are sending the message loud and clear that Western Australia is open for business and open for tourists. We want to share our extraordinary part of the world with the rest of Australia.

"So the McGowan Government is delighted to be partnering with Qantas to help bring thousands of visitors to WA from the Eastern States.

"Campaigns like this one will help support accommodation providers and tourism operators.

"We look forward to these interstate travellers flying with a friend to WA and experiencing all our wonderful State has to offer.
