Over the past week, Football Australia has been delivering public diplomacy and capacity-building initiatives in India, joined by former Matilda and Julie Dolan medallist Ash Sykes, and former Canberra United player/current Canberra Olympic coach Nicole Begg.
Joined by Refereeing Experience and Engagement Lead Daniel Goodwin, the group delivered a two-day workshop for over 100 referees and coaches sharing two decades of experience in the Australian game.
Organised alongside the Mumbai Football Association (MFA) and supported by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and the Western India Football Association (WIFA), the coaching workshop was specifically tailored to female coaches and coaches working with women and girls.
Alongside Australian Ambassador for Gender Equality, Stephanie Copus Campbell, Ash Sykes also took part in a training session with the OSCAR Foundation, a community-based Sport for a Development organisation that uses the power of football to teach the importance of education and gender equality and equips disadvantaged local children with resilience and life skills.
These initiatives are part of the International Pillar of Legacy '23, as we continue our push to make FIFA Women's World Cup 2023™ a tournament for all of Asia and the Pacific.
