Suburbs including Elizabeth Downs, Elizabeth South, Elizabeth East, Elizabeth Grove,Munno Para and Davoren Park have benefited from this round of improvements.
Mayor Glenn Docherty said Council's commitment to improving pedestrian access shines inthe renewal works being carried out within its more established suburbs.
"Footpaths play a crucial role in our community, connecting our suburbs, students to schools
and providing people with the chance to improve their wellbeing through walking," saidMayor Docherty.
"Wellbeing SA's campaign A Walk Can Work Wonders promotes that even a short walk can make a big difference to the rest of your day and it's as easy as putting one foot in front of the other."
Residents on recently renewed streets will notice that their footpaths are now wider thanbefore. This change is part of Council's effort to bring these older footpaths up to the new urban design standards.
Council has also made a decision to prioritise the use of concrete over pavers whenrenewing footpaths.
To further improve pedestrian access for all, Council has installed 43 disability compliant pram-ramps throughout these suburbs. Fitting pram-ramps across the city is an ongoing initiative by Council, which overlaps its footpath installation and upgrade program.
"As our city expands, we remain committed to listening to our community, understanding that investing in our footpath network and its accessibility is important to our residents,"' the Mayor said.
Council will be undertaking further renewal roll outs, with 6.7km of footpath renewals planned for the rest of the financial year in similar established areas.
