Forum Amplifies Demand for Kilmore Public School

Mitchell Shire Council is supporting a community forum calling for the delivery of a public secondary school in Kilmore.

Community group Public High School for Kilmore is hosting the forum on Tuesday 15 September, giving residents an opportunity to learn more about the campaign and how they can support it.

The forum comes as Council calls on all parties and candidates contesting the 2026 Victorian State Election to commit to purchasing land, designing and constructing a public secondary school in Kilmore.

Kilmore is Victoria's largest town without a public secondary school. More than 1,200 secondary school-aged children live locally, with students travelling to Wallan, Broadford and further afield each day.

Mitchell Shire Mayor John Dougall said the campaign demonstrated the strength of community support for a public secondary school.
