Forum Links Students to Mining, Geoscience Careers

Year 10 students from Alice Springs high schools will be connected with local mining and geoscience careers at the Minerals Council of Australia - Northern Territory Division (MCA NT) annual Inspiring Careers in Earth Science Forum today in Alice Springs.

MCA NT Executive Director Cathryn Tilmouth said the forum supports the development of a skilled local workforce by helping students understand the opportunities available in the minerals industry.

'With the growth and exciting future potential of the Territory's minerals sector, mining and geoscience offer long-term, skilled careers close to home,' Ms Tilmouth said.

'Connecting students with local employers and real-world experiences means stronger future job pathways for Territorians.'

Students will take part in hands-on exploration activities, 'speed dating' career sessions, networking with local businesses and learning experiences focused on Central Australia's geology, including Alice Springs' garnets.

The forum supports Grounded in Strength, MCA NT's strategy for building a stronger skilled minerals workforce across the Northern Territory.
