Work to deliver the $526.8 million Ryde Hospital Redevelopment has reached a key milestone, with the completion of the first major concrete pour.
Approximately 613m³ of concrete was poured over a total of 90 hours setting the foundations for the new seven storey Acute Services Building.
The Minns Labor Government is investing $526.8 million in the Ryde Hospital Redevelopment, which will deliver modern and contemporary health facilities to help meet the healthcare needs of the growing community into the future.
The Ryde Hospital Redevelopment will deliver:
- a new and expanded emergency department
- a new and expanded medical imaging department including an MRI service
- a new and expanded Intensive Care Unit
- new and expanded operating theatres and procedure rooms
- a new purpose-built ambulatory care centre
- more adult overnight inpatient beds
- a new paediatric short-stay unit
- expanded surgical and endoscopy day-only spaces
- associated clinical and non-clinical support services including pharmacy, pathology, food, environmental, linen and supply services
- contemporary education, training and research to strengthen tertiary partnerships
- improved accessibility to the campus including internal roads, urban spaces, landscaping and wayfinding, and engineering and ICT service infrastructure.
The redevelopment will also make best use of current services available at the Ryde campus, including the Graythwaite Rehabilitation Centre and the historic Denistone House.
A sustainable concrete mix is being used for the project, with 40 per cent of traditional cement replaced with recycled materials, reducing carbon emissions while maintaining structural strength.
Construction of the Acute Services Building is expected to be completed in late 2027.
