What a year it's been! During lockdown many of us might have been tempted to spend time on the couch and reach for comfort foods. Now, as we move back towards a more normal life, it's time to get back to healthy habits and activities.

Corangamite Mayor Ruth Gstrein said it was important to be aware of our stress levels during this period of uncertainty, and actively take steps to relax.

"Council is running a series of 40 relaxation sessions across the Shire to help our residents unwind and look after themselves," Cr Gstrein said.

"The sessions are all low-pressure, in a safe and social environment, with experienced instructors.

"As we gradually move out of uncertain times, we have the opportunity to deal with any stress that might have crept up on us during the pandemic.

"It is normal that some of us might have a range of reactions. It could be mood swings, headaches, an upset stomach, trouble sleeping or concentrating, or withdrawing from social life.

"If you need some motivation to return to your pre-covid routines, or want to develop new healthy habits, come along. Bring a yoga mat, blanket, water bottle, and wear comfortable clothing.
