Free Waste Reduction Support For Monash Businesses

Monash businesses can now get free, expert support to reduce waste, cut costs and divert material from landfill through a new pilot program, Trim Your Bin.

Delivered in partnership with Cool Planet Sustainability, Trim Your Bin provides participating businesses with one‑on‑one advice, a tailored action plan and ongoing support to make waste reduction achievable and practical.

We are seeking interest from businesses of any size or industry located in the City of Monash.

As it's a pilot program, place are limited. Registrations close 31 May or when places are filled.

Support tailored to your business

Trim Your Bin is a free business waste reduction program that helps Monash businesses:

  • reduce waste going to landfill
  • improve recycling and resource recovery
  • identify simple, low‑effort waste changes that can save time and money.

The program has been successfully delivered by other councils across Melbourne.

What your business will receive

Businesses selected for the program will receive:

  • a free on-site visit to discuss your waste needs
  • a tailored plan to reduce what your business sends to landfill
  • expert support
  • a follow up waste assessment and report at the end of the pilot.

Trim Your Bin is delivered one‑on‑one and designed to fit around day‑to‑day business operations.

From cafés, restaurants and childcare centres to offices, warehouses and community organisations – if your business generates waste, this program can help.

How the program works

  • Register your interest using the online form.
  • Your business is added to the waitlist.
  • Monash Council reviews registrations and contacts selected businesses.
  • A sustainability expert conducts an on‑site waste assessment.
  • You receive a clear, achievable action plan.
  • Ongoing support helps you put changes into practice.
