Cessnock City Council is hosting a free workshop for the community on cyber security at the Council Chambers from 5.30pm-7pm on Thursday 30 July.
Council's Chief Information Officer will run the workshop, which is designed to help local businesses, community organisations, and individuals better understand and protect themselves online.
The interactive session will cover the fundamentals of cyber safety and participants will learn simple, effective ways to safeguard sensitive information, secure devices, and build stronger online habits.
The workshop will include information on cyber risks and practical steps that can be taken for protection, case studies on the importance of being prepared, common myths and threats, what to do in the event of a cyber incident, and the chance to ask questions.
Cessnock City Mayor Dan Watton encouraged the community to make the most of this opportunity to learn more about the important issue of cyber security.
"The valuable expert insights that will be shared in this workshop will give businesses and community groups practical advice on how to ensure they have safeguards in place against online crime," said Mayor Watton.
"Cyber threats are becoming more common in our increasingly digital world, and the best way we can protect ourselves is through education, preparation, and a practical plan of how to respond in the event of a cyber threat or breach."
