Fremantle assault arrest

Fremantle Police officers have charged a man after an assault that occurred in the Fremantle CBD yesterday, 30 October 2019.

About 7.50am, a 69-year-old man was standing on High Street near the corner of Market Street when it's alleged the man approached him and started harassing him. It is further alleged the incident escalated and the man punched the victim in the head.

The victim was treated at a nearby Medical Centre for an injury to his ear and cuts and scrapes to his hands and knees.

A 30-year-old man from Karrinyup has been charged with Assault Occasioning Bodily Harm and Obstruct Police. He is due to next appear in the Fremantle Magistrates Court on 4 November 2019.

Several people were in the area around the time of the assault and police particularly wish to speak to a man who exited a nearby store and went to the aid of the victim who was on the ground.
