FRINGE WORLD 2026 To Light Up City

The City centre will come alive this month, as FRINGE WORLD transforms the heart of Perth into a vibrant hub of entertainment, culture and creativity from 21 January to 15 February.

Now in its 15th year, the festival will deliver a summer-long celebration packed with comedy, cabaret, circus, music, theatre and everything in between – bringing the City of Light alive, day and night.

With more than 600 shows across 110 venues, and around 3,000 artists and performers taking part, FRINGE WORLD 2026 promises plenty of fresh ideas, bold performances and unexpected moments, building on the momentum of over 256,000 tickets sold last year. More than half of this year's program showcases new shows, many from Western Australian artists.

The City of Perth will host the majority of festival events across 54 city venues, including some of FRINGE WORLD's largest and most-loved programs. From playful pop-ups and delightfully unexpected activations like The Bubble Canteen at Forrest Place, the City will be buzzing with the festival's signature wild and whimsical energy.

City of Perth Deputy Lord Mayor David Goncalves said FRINGE WORLD plays a vital role in shaping the City's summer atmosphere.

"FRINGE WORLD is a cornerstone of our summer calendar and one of the most exciting ways to experience the City of Perth," Cr Goncalves said.

"With more than half of the 2026 program brand new, there's every reason to rediscover FRINGE WORLD and enjoy fresh performances, new venues and unexpected moments across the city."

Festival events will be hosted at more than 10 entertainment hubs across the city this year, including Perth Town Hall, State Theatre Centre, The Rechabite, Ice Cream Factory and the much-loved Pleasure Garden in Russell Square. Adding to the momentum, Liberty Theatre will step into the spotlight and return as a major new hub for 2026.

Presented by ARTRAGE, CEO and Creative Director Jo Thomas said FRINGE WORLD 2026 is shaping up to be one of the festival's most exciting programs yet.

"FRINGE WORLD 2026 is when Perth really lets its hair down. For a few glorious weeks, the city becomes a giant backyard party – bursting with colour, comedy, cabaret, circus and surprise – where you can plan a big night out or simply wander in and see where the fun takes you. From first-time Fringe-goers to seasoned night owls, there's something around every corner to make you laugh, gasp or say, 'Well… I didn't expect that!'" she said.

"One of the things I love most about FRINGE WORLD is how it brings everyone together. Families can share their first festival experiences in the sunshine, friends can reconnect over a late-night show, and neighbours can bump into something completely unexpected on their way through the city. With the City of Perth's support, we're able to keep the festival accessible, playful and welcoming – and in 2026, we can't wait to see Perth light up once again."
