Future services confirmed for Abbotsford residents

Face-to-face Centrelink and Medicare services will remain in the Abbotsford area with ongoing leasing arrangements confirmed by Services Australia.

Services Australia General Manager Hank Jongen confirmed the agency has extended the Yarra Service Centre lease for another six months until late February 2021. The Agency has also made arrangements with The Hive Shopping Centre to host the Service Centre in the future.

"We understand there is a great deal of uncertainty in the community at the moment, so we are very pleased to be able to reassure residents by confirming services will remain in the local area," Mr Jongen said.

"The Hive Shopping Centre is in a more convenient location and is well serviced by public transport.

"We'll keep the community informed about the exact timing of the move."

Mr Jongen also reminded customers of the alternatives to visiting a service centre in person.

"You can do most of your Centrelink and Medicare business by using our online services," Mr Jongen said.

"We encourage everyone, particularly those in Victoria, to use our online services as much as possible.

"Our phone lines are operating as normal and we have extended our job seeker phone line for Victorians.

"People can call 132 850 from 8am to 8pm weekdays and 9am to 5pm on weekends."

The Yarra Service Centre is open Monday to Friday, from 8.30am to 4.30pm.
