Game Changer Club of Month: Launceston City FC

Football Australia and Football Tasmania recognise Launceston City FC (LCFC) as the Game Changer Club of the month due to their outstanding commitment and dedication shown in empowering women and girls in football.

Through their support, advocacy, and inclusive initiatives, they have played a key role in breaking down barriers and creating opportunities for aspiring female footballers.

Established in 1958, the club has a proud history having won a number of Northern and State Championships making it the one of the most successful teams in Tasmania. LCFC was the first Tasmanian club to achieve the 1 Star level in Football Australia's Club Development Program becoming a leader in football development within their state.

As part of their Action Plan, the club will aim to promote existing female community and academy pathways; engage further club persons as volunteers and or paid staff to champion and drive an increase in women's football (players, coaches, volunteers); and to ensure that LCFC is an inclusive environment where young females feel wanted, accepted and free to express themselves.

To achieve these goals, the club have outlined some strategies to put into practice during the 2023 season, including:

  • Appointing and funding a women's development officer
  • Increasing female coaches across the club.
  • Produce and promote documents outlining pathways for all female football offerings.

Launceston City FC, with the support of Football Tasmania and Football Australia, will continue to focus on achieving all the objectives and become a stronger and more resilient community football club.

Congratulations and thank you for empowering present and future generations of footballers.
