The Sunbuild Top End Gran Fondo turns 10 this year, and time is running out for cyclists to sign up.

The Gran Fondo, scheduled for 25 July 2021, is the Territory's largest cycling event, and you can sign up for a range of distances. They include:

· The full 145km Sunbuild Top End Gran Fondo

· The 109km Heath Motor Group Tonne

· The 60km Darwin Family Law Half Fondo

· The 25km Fleet Choice NT Fondo

· The three kilometre Royal Flying Doctor Service Mini Fondo

All routes start from the Darwin Waterfront, with longer options extending past Palmerston, into Berry Springs and returning to Darwin.

The event has grown in popularity each year to attract not only Top Enders, but also people across the Territory and interstate.

Quotes from Minister for Major Events Natasha Fyles:

"Gran Fondo is a sensational event for anyone who loves to cycle, whether you're a pro or just starting out.

"Bike sales have gone through the roof since the COVID-19 pandemic was declared last year, so this year's Gran Fondo should provide plenty of competition for competitive cyclists and a cracking atmosphere of likeminded people for those who just want to have an enjoyable day out on two wheels.

"Not only does Gran Fondo attract more visitors to the Top End, it provides an opportunity for Territorians to get active and lead a healthy lifestyle."

Quotes from Richard Welsh, Event Manager:

"We celebrate the 10th edition of the NT's largest cycling event this year. Each edition has grown in size and, with the popularity of cycling being bolstered during COVID-19, we're expecting our biggest turnout yet."
