Giving students in Kew best facilities to learn and grow

Liberal Party Victoria

After years of interrupted learning, a Matthew Guy Liberals and Nationals Government will provide students and teachers at Kew East Primary School with modern facilities to teach and learn.

The Liberals and Nationals will provide $6.5 million to replace the currently outdated buildings and deliver eight new permanent classrooms, a staffroom and office area.

Kew East Primary School hasn't received any significant state funding for new classrooms and administration areas in decades, and desperately needs an urgent upgrade.

The upgrade will modernise facilities by having larger, open teaching areas, which will enable teachers to have greater flexibility in how they deliver lessons and support one another in the classroom.

Shadow Minister for Education, David Hodgett, said the commitment forms part of the Liberals and Nationals' plan to keep classrooms open and children learning face-to-face.

"Victorian students have battled two years of interrupted learning and their recovery must be put first," Mr Hodgett said.

"Rebuilding the classrooms at Kew East Primary School will ensure it remains a quality education option for families in Kew for decades to come."

Liberal Candidate for Kew, Jess Wilson, said students and teachers in Kew deserved the very best facilities and learning spaces.

"This significant investment will deliver better facilities for current and future students and the Kew East Primary school community," Ms Wilson said.

"Parents need confidence and assurance their children will receive aqualityeducation and learning experience. After working closely with the school over recent months and listening to their concerns, I know this facility upgrade will ensure students at Kew East Primary School have the very best start."
