Global program to promote Queensland's world-class education

Ministerial Champion for International Education Kate Jones has officially launched the Study Queensland Global Achievers Program while travelling through India on a trade mission.

"This campaign has been developed to share the stories and experiences of high-achieving Indian undergrads studying in Queensland," Ms Jones said.

"This is a new way to grow Queensland’s international education sector.

"The campaign is designed to position Queensland as a destination of choice for high-achieving students from India with an emphasis on the state’s world‑class education system.

"These students will visit leading Indian international schools during their holidays and share their experience in Queensland with locals."

Students at the University of Queensland and Griffith University will be visiting schools in Delhi and Bangalore as part of the program.

Ms Jones said international education and training was Queensland’s second-largest services export, worth $4.37 billion and supporting 21,000 jobs.

"There are more than 120,000 students across Queensland, with India the state’s second-largest source market for students," she said.

"Queensland has some of the best education institutions in the world in one of the most sought-after tourism destinations on the planet.

"This campaign is about using our current crop of international students to take that message to the world."

Study Queensland is a business unit of Trade and Investment Queensland, the Queensland Government’s global business agency, that has offices in 12 key markets around the world.
