Going armed as to cause fear at Rockhampton

A man has been charged with going armed as to cause fear following an incident at Rockhampton earlier today.

Officers were called to Kershaw Gardens shortly after 9.30am following reports of a man allegedly armed with a firearm.

Initial information was received from members of the public who had been approached by the man on two separate occasions.

Police attended and located the man in a public toilet nearby with a gel blaster pistol. He was taken into custody without incident.

The 32-year-old man has been charged with two counts of going armed so as to cause fear and possession of a knife in a public place.

He is due to appear in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court this afternoon.
