- Graduation event celebrates completion of the Aboriginal Business Leadership Initiative in the Goldfields-Esperance region
- Western Australian Aboriginal-owned and operated consultancy Kaala Barna delivers program
A Cook Labor Government initiative to strengthen Aboriginal leadership and support sustainable business growth has been successfully delivered in the Goldfields-Esperance region.
Participants graduated from the Aboriginal Business Leadership Initiative, a program designed to build personal leadership capability while fostering business development skills.
The program in the Goldfields-Esperance region was delivered by Aboriginal-owned and operated consultancy Kaala Barna, in partnership with the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development and Goldfields-Esperance Development Commission.
The initiative provides comprehensive development and support to strengthen leadership, capability, operational confidence, and resilience for long-term success.
The successful program has been delivered to 91 participants since 2017 across regional WA.
As stated by Regional Development Minister Stephen Dawson:
"Congratulations to the graduates of this program, representing a diverse mix of start-up businesses and small-to-medium enterprises, including auto electrical and heavy diesel services, as well as domestic and commercial cleaning operations.
"The Aboriginal Business Leadership Initiative aims to build Aboriginal leadership capacity and support the growth of sustainable businesses across regional WA, in line with the aspirations of local communities.
"The Cook Labor Government is committed to creating jobs and opportunities across regional Western Australia, and this initiative is equipping Aboriginal leaders in the Goldfields-Esperance with the skills and confidence to grow sustainable businesses and support local employment."
As stated by Aboriginal Affairs Minister Don Punch:
"This initiative is successfully building Aboriginal business leaders' skills, knowledge and networks through culturally safe, structured training and tailored support in the GoldfieldsEsperance region.
"Graduates of the Aboriginal Business Leadership Initiative are strengthening their leadership, confidence and resilience through mentoring and personalised support designed for Aboriginalled businesses and organisations."
