The Cook Government will co-invest $2 million in Camco Engineering to establish Western Australia's first local manufacturing capability for wind tower anchor cages, helping diversify the state's economy and deliver its Made in WA plan.
The investment was made through the government's $8 million Wind Energy Manufacturing Co-Investment Program.
It will help Camco purchase specialised high-precision equipment so it can transition its existing manufacturing expertise to become a critical supplier to WA's growing pipeline of wind energy projects.
This work is expected to create up to 26 new jobs and generate more than $46 million in new revenue for Camco over the next five years.
The Wind Energy Manufacturing Co-Investment Program has now supported four local manufacturers to help deliver more WA built wind energy components and will create more than 100 new jobs in WA over the next five years.
It supports businesses through market entry and growth funding streams, with proponents required to match government funding.
